I love to stop, stand still, and take apart great poses like these.

A balanced stance with a slightly forward bent torso, finished off by that tilted head: Defiance. The way the little skeleton looks at the bigger head is superb. I love it.

Athens

Visited the city for a few days. The people of Greece are very relaxed and friendly. In a big crowd they move with an uncanny lack of haste, not slow mind you, everybody just moves forward without pushing. Its really quite good to experience.

I`m back from a few wonderfull days in Hamburg, Germany. Saw a dozen talented animators and watched how they aproach their scenes. It was great to exchange workflows & talk animation.

This guy is passionate and once he gets fired up you start getting what he cares about. After three days and a dozen pages of notes its changed the way I look at animation. It will not come across in these few lines but basicly, character animation is two things. One: a stylised way to present motion (The principles). Two: ACTING! Once again the muppets show up and show why acting is important. As an animator its just not enought to create motion that fits the mood, it really needs to have just as much work in the acting.

The end of the first assignment. Fixed whatever I could. My mentor had a lot of notes on details. - Edit. its almost a year since I`ve animated it. and with all the stuff I`ve learned I might go back and re-animate it to do it more justice. Im pretty happy with some parts but theres more potential in it.

My previous shortfilm is done. It has been a very good excersize in making deadlines which is exactly what I achieved. Its time to move on and focus on more then making the deadline. I hope to achieve this by simplifying the length and story, avoid rigging and modeling and focus on animation.

Its been challenging and with plenty of struggle.

Really pushed my abilities and workflow.
Get the hang of blocking, refining and polishing.

Body mechanics is a lot tougher then I anticipated.
